Headquartered in our Sanford, FL terminal, we currently operate the largest LTL foliage consolidation and shipping operation in the state of Florida.

MCT Transportation’s Company Timeline
1938 – Willis D. Shaw enters the trucking industry as an individual hauler, pioneering the transportation of live poultry.
1939 – Willis Shaw starts a corporation called Willis Shaw Produce, which will later become Willis Shaw Frozen Express.
1948 – Frozen food enters the marketplace. Frozen poultry becomes the basis for Willis Shaw’s entire operation.
1949 – MCT is founded in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They begin hauling meat and produce between the Midwest and the West Coast.
1954 – WSE now transports fresh and frozen food across every state.
1970 – Willis Shaw Frozen Express is acquired by Del Monte Corp., eventually becoming part of R.J. Reynolds Inc. Distribution Systems.
1973 – MCT starts its tuition-free driving school in Sioux Falls, which continues to turn out qualified, professional drivers today.
1975 – MCT changes hands from the H. Lauren Lewis family to Texas Gas & Transmission.
1981 – MCT diversifies its offerings from meat and produce. MCT is now a high service, general commodity, temperature-controlled core carrier.
1987 – Willis Shaw joins the Comcar Industries family.
1989 – The MCT Acquisition Group purchases MCT from Texas Gas & Transmission. Despite ownership changes, MCT continues to offer outstanding service and wins numerous “Carrier of the Year” awards during both years.
1991 – MCT buys Transhield Trucking in West Chicago from Nichols Homeshield, expanding MCT’s presence into the Chicago area. MCT still hauls aluminum for Nichols today.
1993 – Willis Shaw Frozen Express merges with Clay Hyder Trucking Lines to form WSE. MCT becomes part of the Comcar Transportation family.
1999 – Comcar Industries becomes the sole owner of MCT.
2013 – Willis Shaw is consolidated with Midwest Coast Trucking to form one of the nation’s largest refrigerated carriers under MCT Transportation, LLC.
Most recently, in November of 2016 a private equity firm purchased the majority ownership of Comcar Industries Inc keeping MCT Transportation, LLC part of one of the largest privately-owned companies in the transportation industry.
