CT Transportation’s Company Timeline
1939 – Coastal Transport & Trading Company was founded by Boise Federwitch and Morris Rushing.
1968 – Jerry Wilson, B. J. Herrin and R. L. (Bob) Bryant purchase the company. They add 25 tractors and 50 trailers to its fleet.
1975 – Coastal Transport & Trading becomes the first carrier to haul imported steel out of the Port of Savannah.
1978 – Coastal Transport & Trading acquires authorization to transport jute burlap.
1980 – Coastal Transport & Trading begins transporting building materials.
1982 – Coastal Transport & Trading begins service to California oil fields and trip-leasing back to the Southeast.
1986 – Coastal Transport & Trading becomes a part of Comcar Industries, Inc. They now operate 70 tractors and 120 flatbed trailers as Coastal Transport (CT).
1988 – Comcar acquires Specialized Transport and merges it into Coastal Transport.
1991 – Comcar acquires Kennedy Trucking, merging it along with Specialized Transport and Coastal Transport to form one operating company under the Coastal Transport name.
1997 – CT adds the 500th truck to its fleet, making it one of the largest privately-held flatbed carriers in the nation.
2006 – Coastal Transport, Inc. officially becomes CT Transportation, LLC.
Most recently, in November of 2016 a private equity firm purchased the majority ownership of Comcar Industries Inc keeping CT Transportation, LLC part of one of the largest privately-owned companies in the transportation industry.
